Message from Coach Breese
I am thrilled to be back home in western Pennsylvania, working for an institution that not only recognizes the value of collegiate wrestling but is also invested in supporting the program at a high level. Slippery Rock University wrestling has a strong tradition and an enthusiastic alumni group. I am honored to be the coach chosen to bring back the program that means so much to them and carry it into the future.
Our Story
A Legacy Worth Fighting For
Fred Powell, a national champion wrestler and Hall of Famer, built a lasting legacy as Slippery Rock University’s head wrestling coach from 1967 to 1991. Today, the Fred Powell SRU Wrestling Foundation honors that legacy by helping restore varsity wrestling to The Rock for the 2027–28 season.
